Rhubaba presents:

Duck Hunt

a group exhibition by ICML

Jamie Bracken Lobb | Rob Chavasse | Rhys Coren | Myles Donaldson | Tom Hobson

12 - 20 March, 2011

with a Watercolour Challenge for ICML#4 publication: 12 March, 2pm

Rhubaba are pleased to present Duck Hunt a group show by artist collective InterCity MainLine to coincide with the launch of the group’s latest publication, ICML#4.

Initiated in May 2009, InterCity MainLine is a collective of artists spread between Bristol and London. As well as collaborating together for shows and other artworks, the group’s main focus is an Arts Council England funded publication, reflecting on and collaborating with different artist-led initiatives across the UK.

New work by the five artists has a shared affinity with marrying analogue and digital processes; sampling, re-ordering and repeating elements of recent cultural identity and bridging the gap between pre and post Internet worlds.

Duck Hunt will be accompanied by a specially commissioned text by the curator of Spike Island (Bristol), Marie-Anne MacQuay.

The “ICML Watercolour Challenge” competition is hosted with the intention of providing the group with a formal platform for interaction, networking and collaboration with Edinburgh’s local artists and artist-led initiatives. One lucky contestant will be awarded the Painter’s Medallion and mystery prize. However, in the words of the original presenter Hannah Gordon “there are no loosers in Watercolour Challenge!” All work made at the event will feature in issue four, to be distributed locally and nationwide.

Contestants should meet at Rhubaba for 2pm (where you can collect brushes, paper and, of course, your watercolours) or gather under the Acropolis on Calton Hill for 2.30pm.

The event will be followed by a prize giving ceremony upstairs in the Waverley Pub, St. Mary’s Street, at 5pm.

The competition will be judged by Edinburgh-based artist Keith MacIsaac.
